My Sabrina ( March 2008- December 2017)

http://starfireaok.blogspot.ca/?zx=51e61959d104e16e This is my oldest fur-daughter  Sabrina, who passed from the mortal realm on Sunday, 10 December, 2017. I miss her so much. Her death keeps slipping in on me. It's like it's too big to take it all in at once. I still have my other fur-kids but when I spend time with them it's like it emphasizes that Sabrina is not here. I'm glad to know that I will see her again in the celestial kingdom but it still hurts here and now. I need to be living my faith, not just talking it.

The Gift of Grace

Several years ago, before the Elder Missionaries began teaching me the truth of the restored gospel, I was involved in what is often termed the "Growing in Grace" movement. The basic (fallacious) teaching  of this movement is that the more you sin, the more opportunities you give God to show grace.  I was convinced (I mean, honestly deceived) that every thing I did was covered by grace. I would go on shoplifting sprees and drug binges and praise God that I was covered by the blood of Jesus so the law could no longer apply to me. As extreme as this seems, I really was not alone in being snowed under by this deception. Bad things happen when Scripture is taken out of context. Grace is essential to salvation because we can NOT,{ not ever, no, never} earn salvation.  Latter Day Saints know this as much as any other denomination but  far too many self-professing Christians are taking this out of context and satan is grabbing onto half-truths to  scam the foolish into buying li

Sharing About Rahab

Isn't it amazing to see whom God chooses for service in His kingdom? In the natural sense, humans tend to select those individuals whose appearance—looks, height, build—meets their standards. Ability and intelligence also play a part in the selection process. The best and the brightest are assumed to be the right individuals for the important tasks. In some cases, one's family name may be the factor in whether or not an individual receives a particular opportunity. Sometimes overlooked are those who do not make a great first impression or haven't received honors and recognition. People with lower-level jobs, limited education, and a minimal range of skills are often bypassed. It is amazing the bias, prejudice, and discrimination which often comes into play. Isn't it wonderful how God doesn't use the same criteria! He sees the heart and what each person can become. He knows the potential when given the opportunity. Such is the situation when Rahab, an unlikely

Living My Religion

Of course #Light the World is a wonderful thing and can be checked out on Mormon.org What is thoroughly depressing is how much the whole thing is making me realize how incapable I am of enduring to the end. I can't endure sticking to the Word of Wisdom and the whole "get to know your neighbor" thing on the 5th day had me frustrated beyond endurance. One neighbor is a crack dealer  and the other ones once threatened to kill my cat Sabrina and tried to have my cats taken from me.  I am full of resentment toward these people and when I dwell on it that resentment comes bubbling up into flaming rage that had me fantasizing the horrible things I intend to do them if i ever get a chance for revenge. This is where I have to end and let the Atonement take over.  This is where my foundering efforts make no impression but have me clinging with both fists to what The Savior accomplished for me, and for us all, through his death and resurrection. The beauty of an infinite and ete

The Truth About Job's Troubles

The book of Job is probably one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible. And a wrong interpretation of the story of Job can paint a poor picture of God in the minds of believers. For example, Job 1:21 which says, "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord" is a very misinterpreted passage of Scripture. This verse has often been used to explain a person's premature death. It seems easy to say, like Job, "The Lord gave this one his life, the Lord has the right to take his life away." However, we know that God's will for His people is long life (Genesis 6:3; Psalms 91:16; Proverbs 3:1-2). The devil is the one that takes life. Jesus said in John 10:10-11, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." Why does it seem that some statemen
